August 2026 we headed to one of our favorite destinations – Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It’s a 2 1/2 hour drive across the border to the ferry terminal and then an hour and a half ferry ride to Swartz Bay and Victoria. We spent a week in our timeshare condo overlooking the inner harbor. This James Bay location gives us access to many favorite activities. As is our custom, our first night we enjoyed fish and chips at Fisherman’s Wharf which is next door to the condo. Here are a few shots of the week’s activities. Click on the first image then you can flip through them with the arrows.

After a week in Victoria we drove north to Comox where we checked into the small cottage we have stayed at for several years. It sits at the edge of the sea looking east to the mainland. The location provides us ample opportunities for forest walks, beach walks, mountain walks, restaurants, and a great deal of peace and quiet. Sitting at the end of a small private road, there is no traffic and very few people around. Such a contrast to city life!

Reluctantly we left the serenity behind and returned to the city. It’s a 2 hour drive to Nanaimo, followed by a 2 1/2 hour ferry ride, and then 2 + hours home. We got lucky with the border crossing and only had to wait 5-10 minutes.
Each time we visit we leave a little of ourselves here.

Fabulous photos. What a wonderful summer vacation you and Jean had.
